The Human-Centered Engineering Symposium

The HCEC is proud to host the nation's only dedicated Human-Centered Engineering Symposium

Co-sponsored by the HCEC, The Grainger College of Engineering and The Siebel Center for Design, the HCEC's annual Human-Centered Engineering Symposium brings together educators, practitioners, and researchers from all disciplines of Engineering, to collaborate and share insights on how Human-Centered perspectives inform their work.


Its main goals are:

  • To strengthen national leadership in HCE by fostering cross-sector collaboration among academia, industry, and policy.
  • To sustain and grow the HCE community through structured knowledge exchange and networking opportunities.
  • To define strategic priorities for the field by identifying key challenges, opportunities, and directions for future work.

In collaboration with the Grainger College of Engineering and the Siebel Center for Design at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign, HCEC was proud to host HCEC's first symposium on Human-Centered Engineering.  


Running March 5th and 6th, 2026 at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, the FREE Symposium brought together educators and practitioners from all disciplines of Engineering, to collaborate and share insights on how Human- Centered perspectives inform their work.
